Teamwork makes the dream work

Not that it’s anyone’s dream to die, and yet…

Most clients retain a few different professionals to help keep their financial lives in order. At Strohmeyer Law, we regularly work with our clients’ other specialist advisors, including CPAs, financial planners, bankers, and insurance advisors. (Since you’re reading this right now, we’ll go ahead and assume you claim membership in one of those realms.)

As part of the client’s financial team, we’re all working to achieve their planning goals and resolve their problems.

And while our tasks may overlap with yours, Strohmeyer Law is here to recommend and implement solutions that improve the client’s life by helping them avoid future messes.

Based on our professional training and experience, we each have our strengths.

By working together, we can get the job done right the first time, producing better results across our disciplines. We’re looking for the best results for the client, not the best “legal” result, the best “tax” result, or the best “financial” result.

And—importantly—we don’t ask our clients to act as middlemen, shuttling advice between us. Ultimately, we see better communication and collaboration as a win for everyone.

So here’s our promise to you:

We won’t secretly devise plans with our shared clients that we drop on your desk to implement. We hate professional surprises that get lobbed over the wall and onto our desks, and we bet you do, too.

When we work with mutual clients, we’ll work directly with you—so you always know what the plan is before we draft and execute documents.

Sound good? Good.

Want to refer a client, or just chat? Can’t wait to meet you.

How we work best with CPAs

While we regularly interact with the IRS, we rely on our clients’ CPAs to prepare their annual tax returns. Why? Because when it comes time to report a transaction to the IRS, we don’t want you or our shared client dealing with any surprises.

We limit our return preparation work to one-off returns that benefit from our advocacy skills, such as IRS Forms 706 (United States Estate (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Return), 709 (United States Gift (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Return), and 8854 (Initial and Annual Expatriation Statement).

For IRS Forms 14653 and 14654, which are filed as part of the Streamlined Offshore Procedures, we’ll work with you on those forms so we get the best results for our mutual clients.

How we work best with Financial Planners

Lead the way! In many cases, you have a better insight into our clients’ financial situation, so any plan we create requires your input. We rely on you to guide our clients’ investment decisions.

Book a call & let’s get to know each other. This could be the start of something businesslike.

No Unfinished Business® Podcast

There are a thousand different ways your clients can leave unfinished business, but no single advisor can address every issue. Let’s face it, even after decades in a particular practice, you still have blind spots that your professional training and experience can’t address.

We’re here to help professional advisors focused on individual clients – like attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors – identify and eliminate those planning blind spots so you can speak competently and confidently to your clients and help them leave No Unfinished Business®.
